Two strong owners and skilled franchisees

The BoKlok Concept is owned jointly by Skanska and IKEA. This is realized through the 50-50 joint venture BoKlok AB, who develops the concept and hold all property rights.

BoKlok AB is a concept company with its head office in Malmö, Sweden. It owns the brand and develops the successful business concepts. The company also awards franchise licenses, i.e. the right to build and sell BoKlok on a specific market. The franchisee is granted the right to run the business under the BoKlok brand, and is given access to the franchisor's know-how as well as administrative and commercial support.

BoKlok is active on six markets: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Great Britain and Germany.

Skanska is by far the largest and most active BoKlok franchisee, operating in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

  • Skanska

Skanska is a leading international project development and construction company.

By combining its expertise and financial strength, it develops offices, homes and public-private partnership projects.

Skanska creates sustainable solutions and aims to be a leader in quality, green construction, work safety and business ethics. Of course, it also aims to maximize the potential of Skanska with regard to returns.

Skanska is a Fortune 500 company and a member of the UN Global Compact. Skanska is one of the world’s ten largest construction companies.

Its history began already in 1887 when the company was founded. It established its first international operations already in 1897. Today, 60,000 employees are active in selected home markets in Europe, the US and Latin America.

The Skanska offer includes single-family as well as multi-family housing. It develops residential areas all the way from choosing the location to planning, designing, marketing and sales. One of its core competences is to understand how people want to live their lives and creates attractive new homes that fit their demands.

  • IKEA

IKEA was founded 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad in Småland, Sweden. Here the soil is thin and poor, and the people are famous for working hard, living on small means and using their heads to make the best possible use of limited resources.

Today IKEA stores around the world attract around 300 million visitors annually. All IKEA co-workers work to a simple business idea: to offer a wide range of welldesigned, functional home furnishing products at prices so low, that as many people as possible will be able to afford them.

To achieve the low price, IKEA’s own designers cooperate with manufacturers to find smart ways of making IKEA products. IKEA’s purchasers travel around the world to identify good suppliers with suitable raw materials. They buy in bulk – on a global scale – to get the best deals and pass the savings on to the customers. The customers do their part by picking up and assembling the furniture themselves. Together we save money.

The IKEA range, consisting of around 10,000 products, is basically the same at every IKEA store. The store is where the IKEA range comes to life and it is laid out so that customers not only find what they are looking for, but also get inspired by creative solutions for home decoration at very affordable prices.

Behind the recognisable blue and yellow facades is a world-wide, value driven company, committed to ethical standards, humanistic values, and a thriving IKEA culture. IKEA promotes the potential of every individual and values the diversity of their co-workers and customers.
