BoKlok Opening

MINISTER of State Iain Wright has declared the UK’s first BoKlok development as the “blueprint of the future”.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Department for Communities and Local Government made his comments at the official opening of the development at St James Village, Felling, Gateshead, earlier this summer.   Speaking in front of invited partners and stakeholders, including Lars Wild-Nordlund, Managing Director of BoKlok AB, Home Acting Chief Executive Peter Stott and Home Chairman Rod Bennion, Mr Wright praised the BoKlok concept of housing.   He said: “BoKlok is the way forward and a model which other people can use to ensure good cheap housing is available to all.   “This is the blueprint by which other developments will go forward and take us to the Government’s zero carbon target for all homes by 2016.   “It ticks all the boxes in relation to supply of housing, affordability, design and we want to see more of this as this is the way people want to live in the 21st century.”   The first residents will begin moving into their BoKlok homes in the next few weeks.   Live Smart @ Home has also unveiled a Try Before You Buy’ scheme, which will give people the opportunity to rent a two-bedroom BoKlok apartment for a six-month period before buying the property outright.   If they opt to buy their home their rental payments will be refunded, less a small administration fee, and used as a £3,000 deposit, effectively giving them six months free rent in one of the UK’s most exciting new method of housing.
